Friday Food for Thought: Hiatus

Posted on February 28, 2015 | 2 Comments

Hello to all my blog readers!

I have been blogging weekly to biweekly since May 2012 and have enjoyed researching, writing and posting, as well as viewing reader comments.

Because I have taken on some additional activities, I am having to create more room in my schedule.  I will not be blogging for the next two months.

I will check in during the month of May. If my schedule permits, I will resume at that time.

Thanks for your readership. Please feel free to contact me through my email at If you post a comment to a previous blog, it will also appear in my email.

Kind regards,

Just came across your WSJ article about parents paying for higher education. At the ripe old age of 75 I can attest to the fact that putting myself through college (and working my ass off) made me appreciate everything in life and never having a sense of entitlement. You are on target and I am eager to purchase and read your book. Thank you for having your head screwed on correctly and having the courage/conviction to speak what I believe is the obvious truth…….if you want something go out and work like heck to get it. Stoop looking for a handout.

Thanks for your comments, Margaret. You will not be surprised to hear that some people were quite upset with me, including thinking I must be a terrible mother! Witness the mood on campuses nationwide, in which young people are needing “safe” places and cannot tolerate being offended.
Well, I’ve got news for them: Life offends and we better equip the upcoming generations to deal with that reality. Part of that is having expectations that they contribute to their educations.
Let me know what you think of my book. If you decide to buy it through my website, I send along a free poster.
Again, I appreciate your taking the time to write.
